Ushering In A New Age In Technology - Nano Tech
It is an exciting time to be alive, what with nanotechnology, genetic engineering, and advances in materials science upon us. Scientists have created paper that projects colored lights and are researching a variety of ways to incorporate biological materials into products for instance battery cells and optical discs. And now, some thing has been invented that, according to the man who originally formulated the theory behind it, finally permits us to build real artificial brains.
A memristor is a newly invented elemental circuit board component which will revolutionize electronics within the 21st Century. This is because they can be used both for data processing as well as storage. Present technology makes it possible for only one or the other. Arranged three-dimensionally to offer for ultra-dense calculations, memristors are projected to permit for a quantum leap in computing power while also utilizing much less electricity and as a result generating much less heat, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.
This can make it possible for computing systems to function far more like analog biological brains (in fact, memristors have been compared to the synapses in our brains), a tantalizing prospect for artificial intelligence researchers.
Recently developed memristors have the potential to keep scaling for years to come, meaning that the fundamental laws of physics governing how tiny computing switches may be, expected to make it possible for for no more than an additional three or four generations of silicon transistor technologies, could be ignored.
The memristors now in existence can switch on and off in about a nanosecond, or one-billionth of a second. In another 3 years’ time, memristors ought to be able to hold 20 gigabytes of data in 1 square centimeter. Moreover, memristors can store data even in the absence of an electrical current, which should lead to lower power consumption for the same amount of work. This also results in less heat and much longer battery life and device lifespans.

I want to get a new stereo installed in my 2004 Mini Cooper S?
I live in a small city, with only one business that does car audio installations (New Age Electronics). I purchased a new JVC stereo from future shop in another city, and they provided me with a radio antenna and wiring harness. I also purchased a mounting bracket online, as future shop didn't have one for me. I took my car into New Age to get the stereo installed...and he said the wiring harness doesn't work with my Harman Kardon system. He told me that he called his supplier, and they told him it was impossible to install a new stereo without changing the entire speaker system in my car, as Harman Kardon is all fiber-optic. Is this true? Can I seriously not install a new stereo in my mini cooper without spending thousands of dollars?
I wanted a deck that had bluetooth and was satellite radio ready. Also, the deck glows in many different colors, which matches the interior glow and under glow of my car. That's why I wanted to replace the boring Harman Kardon deck with this JVC one.
why would you replace a Harman Kardon deck with a shitty JVC?
The future of Foxconn (Boing Boing)
At TechCrunch, John Biggs presents a series on the future of Foxconn, a major
supplier for western consumer electronics companies such as Apple. Made
infamous by a series of suicides, the truth is more complex, found in the
statistics of China's economic rise and the countless human stories that add
up to it. The firm's [...]
