Arai XD3 Helmet
When Arai introduced the XD model a few years back, its “Crossover Design” caused a major reaction – all of it good. Here was a single helmet design that was equally at home on the street or dirt, a whole new concept in hybrid design.
Among its new features, the Arai XD3 gets Arai’s Emergency Release Cheek-pad Design, another Arai innovation introduced on the 2007 VX-Pro3 dirt helmet.
A re-designed peak further improves stability and airflow. The XD3 shield system is also designed for the shield to be used alone without the peak, or with the peak and no shield as desired.
Other new features include Arai’s diffuser ventilation first introduced on our RX-7 series road-racing helmets – and now arguably Arai’s most copied feature. But the XD3 borrows the front vents from the company’s Profile model, again designed for increased air intake. There’s also a pull-down chin-bar spoiler, and the contour of the lower shell has been refined.
In typical Arai fashion, the XD3 is not a radical departure from its predecessor, rather the company says it reflects a subtle refinement of the XD’s proven function and appearance. The XD itself being an evolution of the very first of the hybrid crossover-design helmets, the Arai DS from the late ‘80s.

The Arai XD3 dirt helmets are available in a virtual rainbow of trendy colors from Black Frost and Diamond Black to Luster Blue, Silver, Orange, Red and White, among others. The Arai XD3 is designed from a CLC (Complex Laminate Construction) shell fiberglass composite that is stronger while being lighter – allowing for greater use of softer, less dense, liner materials for increased rider satisfaction.
The Arai XD3 helmet has emergency release cheek pads designed specifically for MX and off-road motorcycle helmets. Reflecting Arai’s claim to “build the best helmets possible”, the cheek pads were developed to allow easier access to an inured rider’s head and face area by trained medical technicians.
The Arai Company offers a full 5-year, limited warranty on every helmet they sell. The helmets made by Arai are 100% handmade and go through three, separate, quality control inspections before being signed by workers taking full pride and care in their part of helmet production.
