The Top 10 "Green Cars" for 2010 have been listed by Kelly Blue Book, the ultimate authority on all cars. The scoring system attempts to be all-inclusive, measuring fuel economy and carbon dioxide along with driving enjoyment and safety. The "green" cred of a vehicle can be measured in several ways. This rating tries to take into account which vehicles most people may be seen driving.
Ten: Chevy Tahoe Hybrid
If you know someone who calls hybrids weak, they need to take a look at the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid. This hybrid can tow almost 3 tons with the heavy-duty engine and 22 mpg. That's not a fuel economy rating to write home about, but 6 mpg more than the non-hybrid version.
9 - Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Though the company has faced recall problem after recall problem, Toyota vehicles offer some of the most well-tested hybrid technology. The Highlander Hybrid will reportedly seat seven (though cozily) and gets up to 26 mpg. Standard all-wheel drive means a stable ride throughout the entire year.
8 - BMW 335d
It's a fancy-schmancy BMW, so the 335d has creature comforts most people barely dream of. With a 6-cylinder diesel engine, the 27 mpg rating rivals some hybrids.
Honda Fit - #7
At 31 mpg, the Honda Fit is listed above its better-mpg cousins because it is more fun to drive. Environmental credibility doesn't mean that the paddle shifters and powerful oomph aren't fun to drive.
Ford Escape Hybrid : Number 6
With the room of an SUV but 32 mpg, the Escape Hybrid is a full-size vehicle. The drivability of the Ford Escape is greatly improved by the experience of vehicle builders at Ford. Parallel parking assistance, integrated blind spot mirrors, and the (perhaps controversial) infotainment system vault it up to number 6.
Mini Cooper : Number 5
Part of the Fiat family, the Mini Cooper offers a 32 mpg engine. While the Mini E is being tested in a few U.S. cities, the Mini Cooper is available everywhere. If you can fit into the Mini Cooper, anyway.
4 - Volkswagen Golf TDI
Volkswagen introduced high-efficiency engines. With huge amounts of low-end torque and 34 mpg, this roomy beauty gives plenty of power to match the fuel economy.
3 - Ford Fusion Hybrid
Almost breaking the 40 mpg barrier, the Ford Fusion Hybrid gets a combined 39 mpg. An LCD gauge cluster is getting plenty of attention, but there is also plenty of room in the mid-size sedan.
Honda Insight Hybrid : Number Two
The least expensive hybrid on the market, the Honda Insight tops out at $23,810 and 41 mpg, fully loaded. A decent audio system, voice-activated navigation, Bluetooth and more can make you forget that your ride is helping cut down on fuel usage, too.

At 50 mpg, the newest Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid gets 50 miles per the gallon. Solar-powered ventilation and other green technology gives this hybrid plenty of green cred - and the gas-assisted engine won't die out a third of the way through your road trip.
