Metal doorjamb cutout for the dead bolt strike plate doesn't match hardware size or screw holes. Any advice ?
new fire door jamb indent and screw holes doesn't match with new hardware strke plate. we ar getting a small draft so we would like to correct this by adding a plate. Any suggestions ? Door company is not helpful.
we need to find a strike plate that fits the indentation in the metal frame. the one with the hard ware is too small. will company make one with our specs or can we just redrill the metal frame ?
Hard to answer without some additional info. but here goes.
Make sure door is level and square-if door slab is off just a little it will be too low or too high to line up with strike location. If it is off more than just a little you have manufacturing trouble.
I'm not sure if you can even lock your door or not. You may need to get an oversized strike plate, locate it by marking center of knob on jamb side. Then mark new plate location centered on this jamb mark. Mark strike holes, drill and tap holes into frame. Usually 10-24 machine screws . Install strike. And you can also apply weather stripping on frame. Try another commercial door supplier, take a couple of pictures of your door and frame-try to identify brand of door. take this info to another door company-they probably can help out. Take as much info as you can with you- tell them you would be glad to pay them for some help.

We're not big fans of speed cameras. The tickets are expensive, there is no
facing the accuser, there are questions of accuracy, and in some cases, these
cameras don't even appear to be helping out the governments that install them
financially. And don't even get us started about many cases in which red light
signals are manipulated to increase ticket counts. While we'd like for these
cameras to go the way of the dodo, the fact is that these devices are only
getting better.
The latest device to strike fear in motorists is Simicon's Cordon seen in
action here. This device will be able to follow up to _32 vehicles across four
lanes_ at the same time. It can deliver both wide-angle and close-up shots of
every car, and it can simultaneously gauge speed and map vehicle position. It
even has an available advanced license plate recognition system. Sound scary?
It gets worse. The Cordon is also more difficult to spot, as it can be mounted
on a tripod or road sign. The devices will be easy to update as well, as it
can use WiFi, 3G or ...
